“For in the end we will conserve only what we love.
We will love only what we understand.
We will understand only what we are taught."
                       -Baba Dioum: Senegalese Naturalist

The above statement describes perfectly why I shoot underwater and marine wildlife images. Having been a diver most of my life I find the ocean world deeply inspiring, and I hope that what I shoot will inspire those who view my images. My goal is to tell the story as it is and to capture wildlife in their natural environment. Sometimes that is pretty and other times, sadly, it is not. Not everything about the underwater world is beautiful. It is a fragile and endangered ecosystem that is suffering from neglect and mismanagement. These are the stories that also need to be told, that I want to tell; along with stories of those who are dedicated to implement change. From whales to the myriad art forms of invertebrate life and the devastation caused by abandoned fishing gear, I hope my images transport you to a different place that encourages you to learn, to love, and, ultimately, to protect.
